What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a science based healthcare profession which involves the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of physical dysfunctions and disorders.

In Ireland, qualified physiotherapists have received a degree from a recognised university. To become Chartered and attain a license to practice, the physiotherapist must register with the professional body, The Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP). Chartered Physiotherapists make an important commitment to quality health care and professional accountability as they are required to undertake continuing professional development programs to keep abreast of the latest therapeutic developments. In addition, chartered physiotherapists are bound to abide by a Code of Conduct which sets out expected standards of professional practice and have professional indemnity insurance, which protects patients in the very unlikely event of injury.

All of the chartered physiotherapists at Milltown Physiotherapy Clinic have completed advanced post graduate training in the evaluation, diagnosis and management of conditions relating to the musculoskeletal system. Using a higher level of knowledge and skill, the clinicians apply latest research and best practice techniques to optimise their treatment efficacy and ensure a positive outcome.

In addition, 3 of the physiotherapists have post graduate qualifications in Sports Injuries. The Women’s Health service is headed by our professionally recognised Specialist, who works with a team of physiotherapists who have trained expertise in this field.
